Digital University is an Internet Web site with a variety of resources designed especially for financial institution professionals. Digital’s primary resources include:

Digital University Courses: This feature is our ever-expanding group of courses designed especially for Internet distribution to financial institution professionals. These courses include specific content written for professionals of every job description. The courses provide valuable Internet hyperlinks to expand the value of the course’s resources, checkpoints (i.e., end-of-chapter questions), a resource center, self test and, if necessary, hotword glossary. Most of the courses are designed to be completed in less than one hours. However, some professionals will find the hyperlinks so valuable they may take additional time to investigate all the Internet resources available on the topic being covered.

Learning Management System:  Training professionals will enjoy the many features of Digital's Learning Management System.  It is designed for ease of use and includes many options to control exam taking and print reports. It contains the same courses and information features, but also includes a powerful learning management system that allows the training administrator to:

Print up-to-date tracking reports on:

  • Overall course usage by location
  • Individual employee usage reports
  • Evaluate success in completing curriculums
  • Employee course evaluations
  • Employees taking courses and exam scores by location
  • List of registered Students.
  • Input and report outside courses.

Establish administrators with access to their department (s) or locations (s).

Develop curriculums for every and set completion dates.

Employees can see and track progress in completing curriculums.

Track all of your training modules on this system.

Add your proprietary courses and/or exams to our system.

Customize our courses by adding a chapter of your study material to any course.

Determine exam specifications such as:

  • Randomizing, or not, exam questions
  • Resetting at exam taking at year's end
  • Putting limits on exam taking
  • Setting passing scores
  • Setting open or closed book
  • Showing, or not, correct answers

Digital Free University Courses: These are training resources developed by other organizations that are useful for financial professionals. All can be accessed free over the Internet. Digital University professionals review and describe each of these resources with a description of course objectives, target audience, and estimated study time.

Compliance Center:  This major feature provides one-stop access to all the compliance resources found in Digital's courses, library, and links.  You can usually find up-to-date information on the latest compliance subjects and significant resources on financial institution compliance, human resource compliance, and more.

Operational Links: This feature is designed to allow professionals to find operational and professional information fast, easily, and inexpensively. The Internet provides considerable operational and professional information on topics as varied as accounting and venture capital. Need to find the latest on smart cards? Try out our Operational Links. Most of these sites are up-to-date. Digital University has found sites covering virtually every subject of interest to financial professionals. The Operational Links can serve as your firm's corporate library.

Legal and Regulatory Links: This feature is designed to allow professionals to find legal and regulatory information fast, easily, and inexpensively. Legal and regulatory advice is expensive. Fortunately, the Internet has a growing number of sites that provide considerable legal and regulatory information and advice. Most of these sites are up-to-date. Digital University has found sites for virtually all the federal laws and regulations that impact financial institutions including compliance, employment, and safety and soundness.

Weekly Regulatory Update: Each weekend we visit all the depository regulators to see what they have been doing.  We then provide a brief synopsis and a link to the regulatory Web page where you can get more information.

Digital E*News: Digital provides a periodic email newsletter that provides information on what's new at Digital University and in the world of depository technology, training, and news.

Digital’s courses are especially designed to leverage the "other" resources on the Internet. Unlike textbooks, written courses, CD-Rom, or video tapes, all of Digital’s courses recognize that the Internet is a new technology with enormous resources that are available with the click of a mouse.

When time permits, professionals taking Digital’s courses should be encouraged to visit sites whose links are included. These links have taken many hours to assemble and profile. The hyperlinks will be periodically updated, checked, and new ones added.

Digital believes that linking is the single biggest advantage of Internet training. By allowing professionals to visit regulators, vendors, or service providers in each specialty, the professional stays abreast of the most recent product offerings, regulations, and processing requirements. Professionals can also track what the competition is doing. This advantage is available through no other training media.

Digital University courses have all been written to leverage off of the many additional quality resources on the subject being studied. We have designed our system so when you visit an external like a new browser window opens so you don't lose your place in our course.

Subscribers to Digital University may print out courses using the browser’s print capability. Many other valuable resources can be printed out directly from the browser or downloaded in Microsoft Word™ file format, Acrobat™ PDF file format, or other file formats.

Printing out course material is important for our many subscribers with limited Internet and for those that don't like to read off a monitor.

The best way to print out a page is to hit the right button on your mouse.  This will open a menu on Microsoft Explorer™. Point your curser to the page you want to print and hit "print" in the drop-down menu.

Digital University allows subscribers to print out courses as long as they agree to distribute them only to employees and not outside of their organization.

As one of the world’s fastest growing new technologies, the Internet is experiencing growing pains. The number of users is now estimated to be over 40 million. The amount of content is also growing at roughly the same pace. As content increases, the value of the Internet as a corporate resource increases daily, but, alas, so does the traffic. This fast pace of change means the following:

Changing content and site addresses. Expect to encounter changes to Web site addresses, URLs, and the content on them. While Digital University tests the hotlinks in its courses frequently, they can and do change at any time without notice. Therefore, you may find that content has been removed altogether or moved to another URL page. Digital University will do what we can to keep up, but we can’t check every course’s links every day. If you experience a bad link, please let us know via e-mail.

Performance levels. Internet performance levels, (e.g., measured by delays, lost contact, and slow loading), depend largely on your Internet service (ISP) provider and the time of day you go online. After taking Digital University courses, we think you will find that the value of being able to hyperlink to related sites on the Internet is so valuable that a good ISP is worth the extra money to get the most out of Digital University courses and other Internet resources.

What you see. What you see on your screen is partly controlled by the browser you use. Netscape™ and Microsoft Internet Explorer™ are both excellent. Our site was designed to function best on Internet Explorer™. Please note, however, that both these browsers have been through several updates. All Netscape and Microsoft browsers are not the same. Moreover, the same Digital course will look different on these two browsers.

The size of the monitor you use also determines what you see. If you are working on a small 14-inch monitor, you will find it harder to read the material. You may find you are better off printing out the course material you need.

Acrobat™ PDF files. It is worthwhile downloading the free Acrobat Reader™, which allows you to download and read PDF files that are used by many sites for downloading longer documents. You can now download the reader free from the Internet by clicking on the following symbol:

Digital University plans to grow rapidly in the years ahead. Internet training is new, but many experts believe it will grow to dominate corporate training in the years ahead. We want you to help us determine the direction of that growth. Tell us what you want in terms of courses and features. This will determine the direction we go and the investments we make.
